The ideal candidate brings at least 5 years of business development experience in the legal industry, including capacity to draft initial content and familiarity with the current suite of professional services marketing tools, including Salesforce. - Conduct one-on-one BD coaching sessions with attorneys to assess goals, identify opportunities, and establish actionable BD behaviors.
- Monitor progress against BD plans, providing ongoing guidance, accountability, and course correction support.
- Facilitate quarterly or semiannual BD plan reviews with attorneys and practice group leadership.
- Collaborate with BD colleagues to integrate attorney plans into broader departmental initiatives.
Opportunity Identification Using 3E:
- Leverage the firm’s 3E database and “ClientSight” Opportunity Mapping tool to surface, analyze, and vet business development opportunities, including client trends, cross selling pathways, and dormant relationships.
- Translate ClientSight insights into actionable recommendations for individual attorneys and service lines.
- Partner with Finance, BD and Business Intelligence teammates to ensure data accuracy and meaningful interpretation.
- Develop attorney-friendly summaries of opportunities based on internal and external data, to support informed decision-making with a focus on action-ready implementation.
Thought Leadership Development & Amplification:
- Guide, coach and manage attorneys and their LAAs in creating and deploying thought leadership content that aligns with their BD plans and market positioning.
- Support internal visibility by coordinating attorney participation in internal meetings, practice group presentations, and firm events.
- Enhance external visibility by coaching attorneys on effective LinkedIn engagement, including posting cadence, content strategy, and audience targeting.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure content quality, brand alignment, and amplification across channels. Work with marketing to implement and manage direct marketing / ABM efforts that benefit the attorney, their practice development and the firm as a whole. Provide first drafts or collaborate in the development of first drafts as needed.
Internal Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with BD, Marketing, and Practice Group Leaders to ensure attorney BD plans integrate seamlessly with firm initiatives.
- Participate in practice group meetings to stay informed about priorities, client needs, and emerging opportunities.
- Support training programs that build BD skills across the shareholder group as well as with associates and advisors.
- Contribute to departmental process improvements related to BD planning, coaching, and data utilization.
