Description
Supervising a small team of other Claims Professionals as well as directly handling their own “portfolio” of first party physical damage claims and third-party liability claims which will include investigating, verifying coverage, evaluating liability/damages/exposure, negotiating settlements and/or defending all claims as warranted.
Works toward the resolution of claims files, complaints and disputes and attends arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
May affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.
Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
Actively maintain good file tempo which will include thoroughly documenting the claims files with comprehensive evaluations, notes, action items and diaries
Advises reporting staff on claim files and extends settlement authority as necessary after reviewing files.
Maintaining communication between Insured, Broker and Claimant
May establish reserves and make recommendations or reports for Corporate Claims or senior management.
Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Ensures new members of the team receive proper training.
Drafting Denials and/or Reservation of Rights Letters
Supervising outside defense counsel on claims in litigation
Proactively participate in Mediation and/or Trials
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business, Aeronautics, or a related discipline.
Experience: Generally, 10 to 20 years of related experience, including 5 to 10 years of leadership experience.
Must have or be able to obtain an Insurance Adjuster License in Texas or home state (Additional State Licenses are a Plus)
Should have knowledge of Aviation and Insurance (Pilot or Mechanic License Preferred)
Experience with claim system software and strong computer skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
